Why sustainable fashion so important? ?
“Sadly, Fashion is the 2nd polluted industry in the World, co2 is highest in millions of years, nature’s serious problems ahead for future generations and as a designer I feel we have much more responsibility than just creating beautiful designs and build a mass following. THERE IS NO PLANET B. We must protect our habitat whichever way possible. I believe, the fashion industry has so many talented and creative people and it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to raise awareness and shape an industry with a mindful business approach. I feel very honoured that this award recognition will be a steppingstone towards our vision of Sustainable fashion being the future of fashion and I am very glad to say bridal world has started recognising the effort and the urgency of sustainability.”
Since the first eco-friendly bridal collection in 2011, Sanyukta Shrestha has pioneered the concept of sustainable luxury, when sustainability was an unknown word for mass media and average consumers. The philosophy of the brand reflects the designer as a person, a creative mind that fights for ethical workforce and the environment by representing a sustainable choice for brides and a business that leads by example by giving back to the community, supporting women empowerment. Her innovation has inspired women globally and have attracted cult brides to her boutique from all over the world to cultivate a sustainable lifestyle. The luxury of the eco fabrics, exquisite designs and Nepalese craftsmanship have fuelled a positive change in the bridal world.
“The environment and the future of our planet is very important, and I want people to be aware that luxury and sustainability aren’t two separate industries.”
Sanyukta’s innovative approach has given her a place at Fashion Museum of Bath where her sustainable gown has been preserved since 2011. Her collection has set high standard with the use of ground breaking new technology in fibre design to be predominantly made out of ‘MILK’ ? yes milk??making it an exciting exclusive innovation for the bridal industry. She continues to create wedding gowns with most innovative sustainable fibres including hemp, nettle, soya, banana, bamboo. Recognised by the media as a dawn of the sustainable bridal movement, this Award recognition will not be just a step towards our success but it will encourage many fashion designers to take sustainable steps and inspire them to change the global fashion scene with their responsible positive input.
