A pioneer in Sustainable Bridal & Eveningwear, Sanyukta Shrestha is a multi-award-winning designer with a cult following of brides across the world celebrating the luxurious handcrafted timeless sustainable designs that the brand is known for.
Recognised by the media as “the dawn of the sustainable movement” and “the Greta of the Wedding World”, the Nepalese born designer Sanyukta Shrestha has redefined the bridal market with her innovative sustainable ethos and was among the first to introduce sustainability to the bridal industry. With the launch of her first international sustainable bridal collection in 2011, made out of ground breaking eco-friendly fibres such as milk, banana, hemp, wild nettle and organic silk, Sanyukta Shrestha is also the first Nepalese fashion and sustainable bridal designer to have one of her sustainable couture creations preserved in the prestigious Fashion Museum in Bath (listed by CNN as one of the world’s Top 10 fashion museums) in 2012.
“18 years ago, I had a vision of cruelty free fashion that urged me to think deeply about the future of our planet and what the impact each and every one of us has. I want people to be aware that luxury and sustainability aren’t two separate realities.”– Sanyukta Shrestha
In the early years of her fashion career, Sanyukta worked as a volunteer for World Wildlife Fund Nepal (WWF) and Women’s Rehabilitation Center (WOREC) in Nepal which led her to envision a brand that will be kind to the planet and the people. The commitment to sourcing eco-friendly materials sustainably along with the designer’s desire to support deprived women and providing Fairtrade work for marginalised communities, created a strong community and gave an innovative depth to what a brand represents in 2020.
With the first creation in her design career winning an award, the young designer entered the international scene at the age of 17 where her bespoke designs were showcased on Miss World, Miss Asia Pacific, Miss Earth. Known to be “the Youngest celebrated designer”, Sanyukta created custom designs for many Films and Celebrities in Nepal before graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2005.
The designer’s promise to fight for an ethical workforce and the environment by representing a sustainable choice for brides and a business that leads by example by giving back to the community, supporting women empowerment. By bringing together sustainability with ethical beliefs, the luxury of the eco fabrics, exquisite designs and a century old Nepalese craftsmanship made her brand a one-kind destination that brings sustainability, innovation, and social responsibility under the same roof.
During her celebrated career, Sanyukta has received several prestigious national & international awards and has been praised by the media for her commitment towards a sustainable approach and her timeless designs, featuring in leading magazines. Her designs have been worn by celebrities like Victoria’s Secret supermodel Candice Swanepoel, American girl band Fifth Harmony, Soprano’s Natalie Coyle and Laura Wright and Amy Nuttall to name a few.
